The record board
The most expensive CS2 skins, ranked and dated
The biggest figures in Counter-Strike 2 skins, from the $1M+ AK that sold to the $1.5M knife that didn't — every record filed as a sale, an offer or a listing, and dated 9 September 2026.
In this record
The most expensive CS2 skin ever sold is a StatTrak AK-47 Case Hardened with pattern index #661 in Factory New — the “blue gem” — which changed hands in a private, brokered deal in mid-2024 for a figure the middleman put above one million dollars. That is a confirmed sale, and it is why it sits at the top of this board. The more famous number, the $1.5–2 million Karambit, is an offer that was refused, not a price.
This page ranks the highest figures in Counter-Strike 2 skins and keeps them honest. Every row is labelled as a confirmed sale, an offer or valuation, or an open listing, and every figure carries the date we checked it. Where a record cannot be verified, it says so. Prices are bands, not live quotes — this is a record book, not a ticker.
How to read this board
Three questions decide where a figure belongs. Did money actually change hands, or is this an appraisal or a bid that was turned down? What is the exact wear, float and pattern, because a Factory New pattern-locked phase and a worn common copy are different assets? And what is the date, because the market before the October 2025 crash and the market after it are two different places. A headline missing those fields is a rumour with a dollar sign attached.
The board below is ordered by the size and quality of the record — confirmed sales outrank offers and listings at the same headline number. Read it alongside the CS2 skin market cap over time, which explains why the same knife could be worth $2,450 one week and $700 the next.
One more caution about the top of any list like this: the very biggest deals are private. There is no public order book for a million-dollar skin, so the “record” is whatever a broker, the buyer or the seller chooses to confirm afterwards. We only print a figure as a sale when at least one party to the trade has stated it on the record; everything else is an offer or an estimate, however widely it is repeated.

№1 — the million-dollar AK that actually sold
The record is the StatTrak AK-47 Case Hardened #661 in Factory New, sold in 2024 for more than a million dollars. What makes it the record is not just the number but the grade: it is a Factory New copy of the single most sought-after blue-gem pattern on the AK, and StatTrak on top of that. Before this deal, the best Case Hardened AKs had topped out around $400,000, so #661 roughly doubled the ceiling for a non-knife skin in one transaction.
The blue gem is a pattern-index lottery, not a finish you can simply buy. Case Hardened rolls a random blue-and-gold pattern at drop, and a handful of index numbers — #661, #555, #387 on knives — carry a near-fully-blue play side that collectors chase. The full story of how a pattern number becomes a million-dollar asset is in the AK-47 blue gem and the million-dollar sale.

№2 — the knife that is worth more and has never sold
The Karambit Case Hardened blue gem #387 in Factory New is valued at $1.5–2 million, and it has never sold. Its owner reportedly refused an offer around $1.2 million, which is where the valuation comes from. That makes it, on paper, the most valuable single item in Counter-Strike — but it is an offer and an appraisal, not a transaction, so it sits below the AK that actually changed hands.
This is the distinction the rest of the internet flattens. A refused $1.2 million bid tells you what one collector would pay and one owner would not accept; it does not set a market price the way a completed sale does. Where every headline knife record sits today, floor to grail, is in the most expensive CS2 knife.

The Souvenir Dragon Lore, where the stickers cost more than the skin
A Souvenir AWP Dragon Lore has sold for more than $400,000, and the reason is not the skin — it is the four Katowice 2014 stickers and the tournament provenance stuck to it. Souvenir Dragon Lores only ever dropped from Cobblestone Souvenir packages at Majors, with gold tournament stickers already applied; Cobblestone left the competitive map pool in 2018, so no more will ever exist. Estimates put the Factory New Souvenir population at roughly 12 to 15 copies.
Signed by a legend such as s1mple, individual copies have been reported above $400,000, and bundle deals higher still, though those bundle figures are reported rather than confirmed and we treat them as such. The finish's history — from a $61,000 Reddit sale in 2015 to today's grails — is in the AWP Dragon Lore story, and the souvenir specifically in the souvenir Dragon Lore record.

The rarest by grade — the Howl and the Contraband tier
The M4A4 Howl is the rarest skin by classification: it is the only Contraband-grade item in the game. It launched in 2014 as a Covert, then Valve discovered its artwork infringed a third party's design, removed it from all drops and reclassified the existing copies as Contraband — a tier that exists solely because of that one mistake. Supply is frozen forever, which is why a Factory New sits around a $4,400 median even though it is not, by finish alone, a spectacular skin.
Rarity in CS2 comes in several forms — discontinued supply, pattern lotteries, float caps and tournament provenance — and the Howl is the cleanest example of the first. The full taxonomy is in the rarest CS2 skins, and the Howl's own history in the M4A4 Howl contraband story.

Pattern and phase records — the five-figure knives that trade
Below the seven-figure headlines is where records actually change hands: pattern-locked knife phases. Gamma Doppler Emerald, Doppler Ruby and Doppler Sapphire are fixed at drop, capped at 0.08 float, and make up a fraction of a percent of all Dopplers. On 9 September 2026 the Butterfly Emerald's lowest ask was about $7,800 with listings to $17,300, the Karambit Ruby ran $7,300–11,600 across 255 listings, and the Karambit Sapphire $4,400–13,000 across 274 — deep enough books that these are genuine prices, not one seller's hope.
The Karambit Crimson Web is the outlier that went up after the crash: its all-time high of $18,007 was set on 16 November 2025, weeks after the trade-up update halved most knives, because its 0.06–0.80 float range makes clean Factory New copies genuinely scarce.

The most expensive skin by category
Broken out by weapon, the ceilings tell their own story. The most expensive AK-47 skin is the Case Hardened blue gem by sale and the Wild Lotus by standard finish, with the Fire Serpent and Gold Arabesque close behind. The most expensive AWP is the Dragon Lore, trailed by the Gungnir and Medusa from the same Norse and Gods and Monsters eras. Among gloves, the Sport Gloves Pandora's Box and Vice hold the records, both trading in the low-to-mid four figures in clean Factory New — modest next to a knife, but the glove market never produced a five-figure grail the way knives did.
The other superlative people search for is the most expensive CS2 inventory rather than a single skin. Collector accounts documented by the community have crossed well into seven figures on paper, stacked from blue gems, Dragon Lores, Howls and Katowice 2014 stickers — but an inventory valuation is the loosest figure of all, because it sums bands and offers that would never all be realised at once if the owner actually tried to sell. We treat inventory totals as estimates built on the records here, not as prices.

The stickers that outprice knives
Two paper stickers from a single 2014 tournament outprice almost every knife in the game. The Titan (Holo) from Katowice 2014 is the rarest, with an average market value above $125,000, and the iBUYPOWER (Holo) trades from roughly $65,000 up to reported six-figure listings, with only around 250 unapplied copies left. They are the ultimate discontinued asset: printed once, never reissued, and steadily destroyed as people apply them to weapons.
Applied to a legendary base skin, they compound — which is exactly why a Souvenir Dragon Lore with four of them clears $400,000. The full sticker record is in the rarest CS2 stickers from Katowice 2014.

What it costs to buy or sell a record skin
Record-tier items change hands on peer-to-peer marketplaces that show float, pattern and price on the listing, because on these skins the pattern index is the price. Fees matter at this level: on a $10,000 sale, CSFloat's 2% seller fee is $200 while Skinport takes 6% above €1,000. Steam's own 15% cut and locked wallet make it useless for cashing out a grail. Trade Protection, live since July 2025, makes any trade reversible for seven days and has P2P markets crediting sellers about eight days after delivery — a week that matters when five figures are moving.
If you are buying or selling at this level, use markets with float and pattern data: CSFloat, Skinport, DMarket, white.market and SkinBaron. Some are affiliate links that may pay us a commission at no cost to you; none is a case-opening site, and none of it changes a record on this board. Whether any of this is worth it as an investment is the honest question we answer in is investing in CS2 skins worth it.
